  • RWhite "I remember being in the last all boys class to graduate from St. Joe’s. At the time, we were upset we missed having girls in our classes. Looking back, it wasn’t a bad thing. I remember being in the old building the whole time. Kairos was also important. I still remember the summer carnivals on campus (Westchesterfest).

The first part of that decade I remember was 9-11. I happened to stay home from school that day and I watched everything on television. Then there was Lebron James being drafted in ’03, the White Sox winning the championship in ‘05, the Lakers winding it down after their run.  50 Cent was popular and even Eminem was hanging in there still. Interesting times."

"I have so many great memories of St. Joe's. Meeting new people and building friendships during the high school years is what comes to mind. From Homecomings and pep rallies to supporting our soccer and basketball teams. But what really stands out from then are the teachers and how they continually went above and beyond to help us to become better students.

Growing up I also had great memories. What I recall most is watching sports surrounded with family and friends; the Chicago Bulls playoff runs, White Sox in '05, and the Bears playoff run in '06."

"When I think back about my time at St. Joe's I think the thing that sticks out most to me are the people. The friends that were made there were one of a kind and I am still good friends with some of them to this day. It was always one big family. Teachers genuinely cared about how you were doing as a young man and not just how you were doing in their class. In my four years at St. Joe’s we had quite a few changes: laptops my sophomore year, girls my junior year, and changing buildings my senior year. There was also football. I can honestly say that football changed me from that little kid walking in the door freshman year, to a young man on graduation day. Now, we weren't good, there is no hiding that fact, but I think being able to overcome that adversity and stick with it for all four years made all of us that did so better men for it.

There are too many memories to recall but I will always remember how Brother Peter dropped books on kids’ desks when they were sleeping; boxing with Brother Peter and wondering how he moved so fast; the stories Mr. Z told; writing for Mrs. Vitha in detention; trying to use a sweater to hide the fact I forgot my tie. Many more!"
