I didn't have much of an option when looking towards high schools after I graduated middle school. Both my brother and sister had attended St. Joseph High School so it only seemed right that I would attend there also. During my junior year, I moved neighborhoods and I had the chance to attend a different school but I didn't. The other school was great, but I didn't want to risk missing a memory with my new friends that I had made. Looking back, I'm glad that I didn't transfer. The last two years of high school were phenomenal. I was able to participate and experience many things and I was also very supported. Being a Charger gave me the opportunity to be a part of a great network, something that I am truly grateful for. Now that I am graduating, I realize that it is bittersweet. I'm glad to be done with high school and able to move on. However, I'm sad that I will be leaving behind a great school with an amazing community. More than anything, St. Joe's has become a major part of my life and I'm very thankful for that. Attending Joes is definitely a decision that I do not regret.

To many when they hear the word family they think of their parents, siblings, cousins, and grandparents, but for me it's much more than my relatives. The St. Joseph community is my second family. Four years ago when I was searching for high schools I wanted three things strong academics, amazing school spirit, and a familial atmosphere. St. Joe's was and still is the best pick for getting these three aspects. Now that I have graduated, I am going to continue to learn and grow but I will always know my Joe's family is there for me whenever I need them.

We were excited St. Joseph High School was our children's first choice because St. Joseph and IHM provided us with a foundation for success as students. The values and legacy that were instilled within us are still prevalent today.

I am proud to say that I am a St. Joseph HS alum because I feel I was prepared for college. I was able to strive at St. Joe's both academically and athletically, which ultimately led me to playing baseball at the collegiate level and earning my college scholarships for academics and service. (Nick graduated from Quincy College having as well played in the College World Series final in Texas).

 

 

 

 

Joe Genova, SJHS Class of '15

St. Joseph HS was my first choice because I knew there were opportunities to get involved, but my experiences went beyond my expectations. I was able to announce home football games and attend the 2012 Ryder Cup. I don't believe I would have found these opportunities elsewhere. These experiences furthered my desire to become a sports broadcaster. (Joe completed his degree from the Illinois School of Broadcasting and currently works as a production assistant for the Quad Cities River Bandits, a MLB affiliate for the Houston Astros).

I knew my brothers were both successful at St. Joseph HS and I loved the family atmosphere. Many of the faculty knew who I was well before high school, which was why St. Joseph was my first choice. (Grace is attending St. Ambrose this fall).
