Completing the FAFSA and applying for college are essential steps in qualifying for scholarships and other financial aid from specific colleges & universities. Usually enclosed with your acceptance letter, a scholarship award letter outlines the scholarship(s) you've been awarded should you decide to attend their school. These scholarships are usually based on high school GPA and ACT scores.
In addition, be sure to check the "financial aid" webpages for the colleges and universities you have applied to. Many additional scholarships at specific schools require a separate application, such as those offered by fraternity, sorority and ethnic organizations that love to assist incoming freshmen. Be sure to check with each school you are considering attending.
