Volleyball (Girls)

The 2019 -2020 volleyball team was made up of nine seniors and one junior. The experienced group started their Catholic Girls Conference (GCAC) season with a competitive 6-7 record before running into problems with injuries and scheduling conflicts. Julee Paradee keyed the Chargers offense with her serving prowess, while Jazlyn Harper led the defense with superb digs and great hits out of the back row. Despite the hardships, they continued to play strong and kept up a good attitude. In addition to being a team on the court, the girls worked together off the court as evidenced by raising money for Breast Cancer Research. Highlights of the season came early at the Westmont Invitational. The team beat Christ the King 25-15 and 25-14, and swept Holy Trinity by identical 25-20 scores, but fell to the home team 25-9 and 25-11. The varsity prevailed in a pair of close games (25-19, 25-22) to sweep Catalyst Maria High School. In an exciting match, the Chargers won the first game but lost in a tight three-set match to St. Francis de Sales on by scores of 25-19, 21-25 and 21-25. The season ended with a hard-fought 25-20, 25-20 loss to Guerin Prep in the Guerin regional. Other highlights included two very competitive matches against Elmwood Park and Proviso West led by senior captains, Taylor Griggs, Marissa Pankoff, and Julee Paradee. We will miss our seniors, but look forward to working with a young in 2020 – 2021!
